WOW, we hit 50,000 hits yesterday! Thank you to everyone who has checked out the site and told others about it. It’s going to be a busy summer here at the lodge and I look forward to sharing my adventures with you all.

So after almost two weeks off from paddling I finally went out today. Just one picture today, I’ll head out again tomorrow and try to snap some more. As so often occurs, I came in 15 minutes too soon and missed the humpback coming up the inlet.

So after fighting massive swells, pouring rain and 50mph wind gusts we made it up the inlet and found one of my favorite camp sites still buried in snow.  Good thing I like camping in snow!

So I spent a good part of the day trying to paddle with the Orcas from yesterday without any success. I don’t know what could have gone wrong? They were right across the inlet when I set off this afternoon.

Could it be that….

I really don’t know why I didn’t meet up with the pod today. What I can tell you is that it was really cold, the new kayak was fun to paddle and that I’ll be out there tomorrow!

Had my first chance to paddle with a pod of Orcas since last fall. Had so much fun it’s hard to put into words. They were pretty shy and didn’t want to get to close. I figure they just don’t know me yet, a few more days together and they’ll be right up against my kayak.

So we woke to a lot of snow and calm waters this morning at the lodge and decided it was the perfect day to buy a new kayak! So that’s what my best friend Ryan did. We drove to town and picked up a new Current Desings Breeze.

Then it was off to kayak the inlet after we dug my kayak out.

After digging out my kayak we had a great trip up the inlet, enjoying calm waters and the biggest snowflakes you’ve ever seen.

Short run today, almost had float plane land on me. But he pulled up just in time and I headed back to the lodge!
